At the Tacy House in Mankato, Minnesota, Maryann talked with readers about writing and her books. Maryann is a big fan of Maud Hart Lovelace's Betsy-Tacy books, so this was an honor to be speaking at Tacy's House. That's Betsy's house across the street!

Lonesome Ron Affolter, a wonderful cowboy guitarist, serenaded the visitors with the kind of music that would have been heard back in the days that Betsy and Tacy attended parties. Why, we're all still listening to, and loving, cowboy music today!

Here's a good shot of the Tacy house, 332 Center Street, which The Betsy-Tacy Society has refurbished to the condition it was in when Betsy and Tacy ran back and forth across the street to talk to each other.

New friends, Peach, who does rope tricks, and Lonesome Ron Affolter, the cowboy guitarist, with Maryann Weidt, author and cowgirl-at-heart.

Babies, 10-year-olds, 12-year-olds, mothers, aunts—it's always fun to see how many people love the Betsy and Tacy books. An ice cream social is the perfect time to share the love we have for books and reading. Be sure to visit the Betsy-Tacy Houses when you're in Mankato!
