Reading Daddy Played Music to the Cows to a preschool classroom. How many of them have seen cows? Or milked cows?

They're all going to read the book to their parents tonight.

Maryann talks with kids of all ages about telling their own stories. Learning to tell stories, particularly the stories of the children's lives and their family's lives, is a good way to interest children in writing and reading.

Having been a reader from her earliest days, Maryann worked as a children's librarian for many years. Helping children find an interest in reading is a primary interest for her.

How about you?

Do you tell your stories to your kids?

Do you encourage them to tell you their stories?
